MIRANDA LAMBERT TO RELEASE FIRST ALBUM IN TWO YEARS — ‘THE WEIGHT OF THESE WINGS’ TO RELEASE NOVEMBER 18
RCA Nashville GRAMMY Award-winner, Miranda Lambert, is set to release The Weight Of These Wings, first album in two years, on November 18.
Lambert announced the news today via social media. Check out the post announcing the album.
Sharing the producing duties for The Weight Of These Wings are Frank Liddell, Glenn Worf, and Eric Masse and the new album features “Vice” the first single off the upcoming set.
When Kenny Chesney took the stage on the eve of the University of Tennessee/Virginia Tech football game, he was in many ways returning to the roots of his raising. As he said midway through the high-energy set, he came into Bristol Motor Speedway with one goal in mind: “to celebrate music and to celebrate football.”
From the first moment of his set until bringing longtime friend and former University of Tennessee star quarterback Peyton Manning out during the celebration of high school football, “The Boys of Fall,” it was all hits and the kind of connection that prompted The Dallas Morning News to write the 8-time Entertainer of the Year is “two parts Mick Jagger, one part Bruce Springsteen and one part Billy Graham.”
“The people from that part of the country are all heart – and all soul,” Chesney said after the show. “When they show up, they bring everything they’ve got. I was raised that way, and I understand how much they care about football – and music.”
For Chesney, who attended East Tennessee State University, Bristol was the place he started on his own dream of chasing music. He talked of playing gigs at the El Chico Restaurant to make money to cut an independent album across the state line in Bristow, Virginia and learning the first lessons in how to connect with people through song.
“Music and sports bring people together like nothing else,” Chesney enthused. “What a thrill it was to be part of this historic weekend, combining both – and to come play music where it all started for me.”
During a particularly poignant “Boys of Fall,” Chesney waved the recently retired, current Super Bowl champion out of the wings, deepening the significance of the moment. The good friends stood before the roaring crowd, taking it in and signing an acoustic guitar to give to one young fan to remember the night that would be hard for anyone in the area to forget.
“When you grow up in East Tennessee, football, family, church and friends are everything,” explains the man who has played over 145 stadiums across his past 10 tours. “Those are the things that bond you together, that lift you up, that bring you out. For everyone out there tonight, ‘Boys of Fall’ was truly the song of the weekend.”
With the man The Los Angeles Times called “The People’s Superstar” just wrapping his Spread the Love Tour in Boston with 121,000+ fans over two shows, bringing it all back home was a fitting finish to a very special summer. What began as a crazy dream became a very real moment playing his songs to kick-off what is being billed as “the biggest football game ever” with over 150,000 tickets being sold.
Christmas will arrive early this year for CMA Musical Event of the Year nominee Chris Young! The RCA Records Nashville artist will release his first-ever Christmas album on October 14 — It Must Be Christmas — to celebrate the holiday season.
“This is something I’ve wanted to do for a really long time,” said Young. “Christmas is one of my favorite times of year and it was hard to narrow down the list of songs for this record. I’m excited to share my own versions of many of the standards I sang as a kid every year at Christmas, plus I had the opportunity to write a couple of original songs to celebrate the season.”
Beginning today, a special limited autographed copy of Chris Young’s It Must Be Christmas can be pre-ordered at Amazon ahead of the October 14 release. In addition, limited edition gift packages are available for order at ChrisYoungCountry.com. Bundles include everything from a Christmas ornament, It Must Be Christmas long-sleeve t-shirt, a fleece lined winter blanket and more!
It Must Be Christmas marks the hit-maker’s sixth album in a career that has spawned eight No. 1 songs and fifteen Gold/Platinum certifications. Young and Corey Crowder, who first teamed up to produce Young’s Gold certified album I’m Comin’ Over, also joined forces to produce It Must Be Christmas. Later this month Young will embark on the second leg of his headlining “I’m Comin’ Over Tour.” Special guests joining Young in concert in September and October are Dan + Shay, with Dustin Lynch coming on board in November and December. Fellow CMA Musical Event of the Year nominee and “Think Of You” duet partner Cassadee Pope will return for all dates after providing direct support during the first leg of the tour. Tickets can be purchased at aeglive.com and ChrisYoungCountry.com.
Miranda Lambert released the new music video for the song NPR calls a “sophisticated sucker punch” today on VEVO.
Lambert’s fan club was treated to first access of the “Vice” music video one hour prior to the video being widely available.
The cinematic-moving video was shot in Lambert’s home state of Texas in the small town of Smithville and once again behind the camera was Lambert’s go-to video director, Trey Fanjoy.
This past weekend Brad Paisley kicked off his celebration of the 2016 college football season by taking his Country Nation College Tour presented by Frontier Communications to Downtown Orlando. This coming weekend the Country Nation College Tour presented by Frontier Communications will travel to Paisley’s home state of West Virginia for a show at WVU on Friday, September 9. Sony Music Nashville announces the signing of exciting newcomer, Seth Ennis, to the Arista Nashville roster with the release of Ennis’ debut track, “Woke Up In Nashville.”
“I’m so excited about Seth and his music,” says Randy Goodman, Chairman & CEO, Sony Music Nashville.
“He represents everything good about our format and its future; young, energetic, incredible songwriter and performer. He’s the whole package and the real deal!”
Co-written by Ennis, David Hodges and Blair Daly and produced by Corey Crowder, “Woke Up In Nashville” showcases the 23-year-old’s musicianship as Ennis plays all instruments and sings all vocals on the track.
“Woke Up In Nashville” is available at all digital retail now and is currently featured in Apple Music’s “Best of the Week” playlist. This past Friday Spotify also featured the track in their “New Music Friday” playlist.
At age 7, Seth began playing piano, adding drums and guitar to his repertoire in late elementary and early middle school. As the middle son of a military colonel, Seth honed his talents growing up around the world – spending time in Georgia, Alabama, Washington D.C. and Japan all before age 16.
Seth moved to Nashville in 2013 and quickly embedded himself in the songwriting community while continuing to tour the Southeast.
In 2015, Seth signed with Scott Ponce and Corey Crowder at Liz Rose Music/Warner Chappell Music, teamed up with Marc Dennis and Sabrina Butera at Creative Artist Agency and is managed by Jason Owen at Sandbox Entertainment.

Jake Owen garners his sixth No. 1 single this week with “American Country Love Song” sitting at the top of the Billboard Country Airplay & Country Aircheck’s Mediabase charts.
“We debuted ‘American Country Love Song’ in the spring,” reflects Owen. “People seemed to genuinely like it when we put it out and quite honestly, I was relieved to receive the positive feedback from everybody. Our ‘Love Bus’ Road Trip was the beginning of the journey with this song and the music video. It really was a life changing time for me. Now, to see this song go all the way to No. 1 this week is just a great way to end the summer. Let’s raise a glass!”
Owen continues, “I have a lot of people to thank who worked so hard to get ‘American Country Love Song’ to the top of the charts. I’m pumped for everyone involved; my Sony Nashville team, my kick-ass RCA promotion staff, led by Keith Gale who is a true friend and the best in the business. I’m stoked for the songwriters Jaren Johnston, Ashley Gorley and Ross Copperman. I have to thank my friends at country radio for not only supporting this single but for supporting me all the years that I’ve been doing this.”
“Jake is back in the position where he belongs, #1,” says Steve Hodges, Executive Vice President of Promotion & Artist Development, Sony Music Nashville. “On the heels of his #1 album debut, it’s very fitting that this single lands the top airplay spot as well. Kudos to Keith Gale and his RCA Nashville team, and to county radio for their overwhelming support.”
“Jake has a lot of friends and fans at Country Radio, not to mention Country Radio listeners who are fans of Jake,” adds Keith Gale, Senior Vice President, RCA Nashville Promotion. “It was so great to see both embrace this song.”
With stars and stripes attire, Jake celebrated over the Labor Day weekend by being out on his boat with friends and wake surfing on the Cumberland River in Nashville.
The No. 1 hit is the debut single from Owen’s highly anticipated fifth studio album, American Love, which has just been certified GOLD by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart (a second time for Owen, Barefoot Blue Jean Night debuted at No. 1 in 2011) and at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, which is the highest debut of his career on the all-genre chart.
On September 21st, Owen will perform his new No. 1 hit on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! plus a few more tunes from AMERICAN LOVE on their outdoor concert stage in Hollywood, CA.

Dolly’s 43rd studio recording and the first release of her recently-announced joint venture between Dolly Records and Sony Music Nashville, achieves #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart with first-week sales of 20,000 units! This marks the first time Dolly has topped Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart in the 25-year history of SoundScan.
The new album which released August 19th on Dolly Records/RCA Nashville lands the #11 slot on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart with a first-week total consumption of 21,000. On Billboard’s Americana/Folk Albums chart, the disc debuts at #1. In the UK, Pure & Simple enters the all-genre album sales chart at #2, behind Frank Ocean’s Blonde.
Upon hearing the news, Dolly Parton, who co-produced and wrote every song on Pure & Simple, enthused, “Boy, it’s a good day for me. I am a happy girl!” She continued, “It feels great to be #1 as it’s been a long time and it feels so good to still be in the game after all this time.”
Remarked Doug Morris, CEO, Sony Music Entertainment, “Congratulations, Dolly, for your stunning debut with Pure & Simple. You put your heart and soul in this album, and we join you in celebrating a long-overdue #1 on the country album chart.”
“I thought it was a magical time back in 1981, when I first started working with Dolly as we set up her Best Little Whorehouse album on RCA, right after her huge hit, ‘9 To 5,’” reflected Randy Goodman, Chairman & CEO, Sony Music Nashville. “I spent a week with her on the RCA jet visiting radio and retail all over the country.” Goodman continued, “But, to be reunited with Dolly and have a #1 debut is wonderful. Thank you, Doug Morris for bringing Dolly back to RCA.”
CTK Management CEO Danny Nozell said, “There is nobody more deserving of this tremendous success. Having worked with Dolly for the past 13 years, I have never met any person that works harder than her.” Nozell added, “She is a businesswoman that understands her brand and knows exactly what to do and when to do it, and once again, she proves it with a #1 album.”
Last week, Dolly Parton made appearances on NBC’s Today and Tonight Show, among other TV shows.
