FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 3, 2010
Nashville, TN – The most-awarded act in Academy of Country Music history, superstar duo Brooks & Dunn and their towering catalog of hits were celebrated on the recent all-star ACM Presents: Brooks & Dunn – The Last Rodeo special on CBS. The highly rated two-hour event drew more than 10 million viewers and reminded fans how much they love the duo’s music, propelling their latest release, 2009’s double-disc #1s … and then some, to a 211% sales increase, according to Nielsen SoundScan. With sales of nearly 19,000 albums, the collection earns a #2 berth on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.
Brooks & Dunn’s Quadruple-Platinum first Greatest Hits Collection also saw a big jump, with Nielsen SoundScan reflecting a 174% sales leap to claim the #1 position among Billboard’s Top Catalog Country Albums.
The CBS special’s star-studded performances of classic Brooks & Dunn songs also drove singles sales of the original hits featured on the show, with double or triple-digit percentage sales increases resulting in more than 53,000 downloads over the past week on those tracks alone.
The May 23 special was a ratings success, second in households (6.3/11) and viewers (10.08m) on a competitive night, airing against ABC’s series finale of Lost and the live season finale of NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice.
Brooks & Dunn are currently on the road with their final tour together, The Last Rodeo. Visit www.livenation.com or www.ticketmaster.com for tickets. Fans can watch the duo’s website at www.brooks-dunn.com for all the latest tour information.
