MAREN MORRIS’ “GIRL” MAKES HISTORY INTERNAL

Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Maren Morrismakes history with her inspired female anthem “GIRL,” which had the highest debut on the Country Streaming chart by a female artist and the highest weekly streams by a female country artist with 3.3 million audio streams.

“GIRL” was No. 13 (with 3.3 million streams) on Nielsen’s Country On-Demand Audio Streaming chart for the week ending Jan. 24.

Morris, who HITS says “transcends genres with a statement that unifies,” co-wrote “GIRL” with Sarah Aarons (“The Middle,” Zedd/Maren Morris/Grey), and Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer Greg Kurstin (Adele, Sia), who also co-produced the track with Morris.

The music video for “GIRL” was described by Rolling Stone as highlighting “women in various situations as it seeks to illustrate the struggles they face in everyday life.” It was released Jan. 24 via YouTube/YouTube Music and has since been embraced by mainstream online media outlets including including Teen VogueSeventeen, and Elle for its encouraging message of self-love. Morris tapped director Dave Meyers, the award-winning music video director who has worked with Missy Elliot, Kendrick Lamar, P!nk, and Katy Perry, to lead the charge with the video, which marks Meyer’s first country music format video.

The message is certainly something that connects and motivates. “Sometimes we just need someone like Morris to give us a pep talk in the form of a slow-burning country jam.” – Time.

Morris will launch her headlining GIRL: THE WORLD TOUR, March 9 in Chicago with 40+ international and U.S. tour stops. Joining Morris for GIRL: THE WORLD TOUR is Cassadee Pope and RaeLynn. Tickets are available now.
